Doran William Cannon was one of Hollywood’s most accomplished screenwriters. For more than forty years he worked with Hollywood’s greatest directors, developing dozens of screenplays for both movies and television. As a consultant on story structure to producers and major studios, Mr. Cannon developed a clear and unique set of rules for building a dramatic story structure.

His screenplays include the famous cult film Brewster McCloud, directed by Robert Altman and Skidoo, directed by Otto Preminger. He also wrote the opening scene of Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather, with its famous line, “I Love America!”
